VKLive Is Coming!
A new year is before us, brimming with an endless stretch of possibilities. String Yarns loves this liminal landscape—behind us, the last exhale of holiday projects, gleaming before us, a horizon of “selfish knits.”
It’s the perfect time for Vogue Knitting Live to come to New York City.
We’re electrified with excitement over this year’s festivities. With a glut of new yarns and designs and the companionship of our coterie of BFFs (remember our Best Fibery Friends?), we know you’ll love visiting our booth this year.
Of course, we can’t give it all away just yet. But like a chef with something delicious set on a low simmer, there’s nothing wrong with a little dip of the spoon for a taste of what’s to come.
You know that our BFFs Loopy Mango, Koigu, Prism Yarns, Tahki Stacy Charles, Tricoter Yarns, and Zealana Yarns will be on-hand to share their new fibers and fashions, participating both at our booth and in our fabulous runway show. We reached out to our BFFs to find out what they are most excited about, and to see if we couldn’t tease some sneak peeks out of them.
Koigu’s lovely Variegated Gradient Scarf (seen at left) will be at String Yarns’ booth. Designed by Kathy Merrick, it features two colors of the classic fan-favorite KPPPM to highlight the gorgeous color stories inherent in Koigu’s yarns.
Tricoter’s Lindy Ward told us, “We’re bringing great new Tricoter original designs for both accessories and sweaters… lots of ‘little luxuries’ and some of our best selling sweaters of the season,” and Beryl Hiatt added, “We look forward to seeing familiar faces… and meeting new knitters as well. We’re thrilled to be combining our efforts with String NYC!”
We chanced a glance at some of Tahki Stacy Charles’ new yarns, including the lustrous, 100% linen Alicia from Stacy Charles Fine Yarns. It’s just one of the yarns that will be available at Tahki Stacy Charles’ Yarn Tasting Table, a hands-on experience where knitters can cast on and ‘test drive’ the new spring line of TSC yarns.

Stacy from Tahki Stacy Charles is incredibly excited to be back at VKLive in his hometown: “Having been on hiatus for the past 2 years, I am so happy to be attending VKLive. My greatest pleasure is meeting and interacting with our consumers. Sometime I get so wrapped up in the creative process I forget how joyful it is to meet and greet people who have known me through my work for the last 25 years. I am so looking forward to this event!”
Anna from Loopy Mango told us "Loopy Mango is excited to showcase our biggest circular knitting needles—size 100 (35 mm) and size Y (35 mm) crochet hook for all of your extreme knitting needs. For the first time at VKLive, we’re bringing Loopy Mango Merino No. 5 yarn. This super soft chunky merino is so perfect for cardigans, beanies, shawls and baby blankets. Free pattern with yarn purchase!”
String has put together several fabulous kits with Zealana for their newest sockweight yarn, Cozi. A soft, warm blend of merino, possum down, baby alpaca, and nylon, Cozi is a wunderkind for hardwearing, textural knits. Look for Zealana Cozi Kits at VKLive this year!
Zealana’s Cirilia Rose said, “Vogue Knitting Live NYC confirms that the couch-bound knitter stereotypes we see in the media couldn't be further from the truth. We’re a global community with as many interests as there are types of fiber, and basking in that diversity is a really energizing way to start the year. Zealana is excited to partner with String Yarns to share our unique brushtail possum blends, and fiber inspiration for the year ahead.”
String Yarns has put together some unique kits of our own to launch your 2016 “selfish knitting” with style–both Petra’s Perfect Hat and the Spring on 74th Street Shawl are great entrées into the new knitting season. We’re also bringing kits for our latest KAL with Tanis Gray, the Nordic Fair Isle Slouch Hat. With a start date of January 12, picking up the kit at VKLive gives you plenty of time to jump on the KAL bandwagon!
Laura from Prism Yarns has been to “every VKLive in NYC, and I always look forward to it. The energy is incredible; I have capable, engaged students who are eager to learn in my classes, and I get to actually meet and talk to the knitters who are making such beautiful things with Prism Yarns. All around it is an extremely energizing experience and I always go home with new ideas and inspiration myself. I'll be bringing some of our hottest new designs, including some great pieces that have been in Vogue Knitting the past few issues and some hot-off-the-needles pieces that I am just finishing up—so those attendees at VK Live will be the first to see them! Shhhh... it’s a secret until then!”
Remember—there are plenty more surprises in store, but you have to attend VKLive to experience them!
Be sure to ask about our daily random drawings when you stop by the String Yarns' booths #1001 - 1009—we're giving away several of our knitting kits and Tahki Stacy Charles will also be giving away kits as well as signed copies of their Fall 2015 collection books! Stacy will be at the booths signing books on Saturday at 1pm and Sunday at 11am.
As a special bonus, for the weekend of VKLive String Yarns will be offering 20% off ALL cashmere at VKLive as well as in-store and online (use code VKLIVE)—we didn’t forget about our loyal online friends!
