5-6 pm - Cocktail reception featuring Long Island wines and cheeses, with a presentation on Fibers & Farm Life on Long Island by Tabbethia Haubold-Magee
Tabbethia Haubold is the founder of Long Island Livestock Company, a 17-acre farm in Yaphank. NY. She produces a beautiful range of fibers, many from her own stock of llamas, alpacas, angora goats, sheep and rabbits, some 100% and some blends, that are coveted by knitters and crocheters worldwide. She will bring a large trunk show of yarns, with sample garments of her exclusive patterns, as well as her fabulous line of lanolin-based skincare products – perfect for yourself or holiday gifts - that sell out at knitting shows across the country.
“I love knitting with Tabbethia’s yarns for myself and have designed some pieces for her as well, and I have to admit that some of her yarns are so naturally beautiful that I just keep them at home in a bowl on my coffee table!” – Lisa Hoffman
In her presentation, Tabbethia will talk about how travels the East Coast as a professional shearer, shearing more than 1,000 animals a season. Her farm hosts llamas, alpacas, angora goats, sheep, rabbits, and 2 pot bellied pigs. She is involved in educational programs, teaching children to handle llamas, and she and her llamas participate in animal assisted therapy programs at rehabilitation and skilled nursing facilities. She also does public shearing demonstrations.
